Your new opportunity 

Quarriers Ayrshire Youth Support are looking for a new Transition Mentor to join our Outreach Team

The service works in partnership with South Ayrshire Council to reduce homelessness and support young people to develop life skills to enable them to maintain independent living. 

We share responsibility for supporting young people to manage their finances, appointments, and their homes. Support is delivered to young people on an individual 1:1 basis. Groupwork support and activities  are also offered by the team.

As a Transition Mentor you will joining a well established team who play a key part in promoting positive role modelling, ensuring that each young person's voice is heard and their individual needs are met. You will contribute towards promoting healthy lifestyles and ensuring people have access to information and opportunities within the local community. 

As part of the outreach team, you will be required to work between the hours of 8am - 8pm on a rota system over 7 days.

This is a permanent, full time position working 39 hours per week.

What you will need to bring to the role 

  • Ability to build trust long last relationships to effectively support young people and their families while maintain boundaries. 
  • Excellent communication skills and
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting young people who have experienced homelessness and/or trauma in their young life. 
  • Reliability and commitment to delivering a vital service within a community setting. 
  • Resilience and ability to respond approach positively any conflict or signs of distressing behaviour.
